Round Table Dinner

Time Frame 1995-1999 (My Engineering Days)
Place KSS Hostel Mysore Jayanagar.
Scene : Night 8PM in KSS Hostel Galery...

Every day 8PM in KSS was the dinner time for all the folks in the KSS. The bhatru used to prepare the sakkat Aduige and call the folks by ringing the bell. Most of the inmates used to respond to the call by comming into the dinning area with the Plate and a Lota..

You could easily distinguish the newcommers to the KSS (they were having their own Tatte and Lota with them). -:)

I am not talking about those sincere guys.. but there were few folks who belived in kole is the only thing which can keep them happy for ever.. People call them selves as Koole Kings..
and i am one of the most active member..

Waiting for the Bhattaru to exit the scene (from dinning hall) was our usual practice. This was PJ's Takar Takar Idea.. (as we all not like him to serve us).

Me kengu and kabbur were to arrive from Downs....
a vist to all the rooms to call all the folks was common... then was the task of getting a plate (Tatte) for dinner.. We never had our own plate.. our plate was lost (this is still a mistery! abot where all the plates dissappeared?)

Only person who used to have meals in only his plate was Batsman... -:). I guess he preserved his plate through out his 4 years in hostel.. and should still have the Tatte (which got him the name Batsman) in cannada...

I am getting distracted with other information which r pitching in to my mind.. excuse me. I will create a seperate chapters for these.

Some juniors in the ground floor used to have tatte's in their hand and were just handing over to us. Some were just lying saying the plate has been taken over by some one... I pitty on them because they still had the intention of preserving the plate. -:)

Some how all of us used to manage to get the tatte.. The usual scene was Batsmen still having the meals.. He used to start the proceedings from the time of the bell and he used to continue with us. me,PJ, subbu,kengu (most prolly the bakara), kabburi, long, satis, giri, Rade ,tola, umesha were the confirmed participents for the roundtable dinner (although there was no table). There used to be some un?welcomed? guests (majid.... ) for the dinner some times.

The one of the most famous topic discussed was the Shimoga V/S Bangalore. Me, PJ, subbu and tola being the Shimoggians and rest of the people agruing for the Bangalore (even though they were not Bangaloreans).. Once we the panel from Shimoga decided to give the SET (Shimoga Entrance Test) for all the people who r non Shimogeans. Kengu was the first prey to this and he had to undergo through the trouble.

Next one among the most famous topic under discussion was the E&C kasta da Subject.
People in the E&C (particularly NIE E&C) vs other branches.. Kabburi and Long (the NIE E&C batch of 99) used to get teased left and right because of their dialogs like Out of Syllabus..
and mentioning the subjects like PULTI... AEC / DEC some thing like that...

Next come the most favourite topic of the KSS hostelite.. cricket. I could say if it was any thing that got every hostillite together was CRICKET. Topics like Tendulkar v/s lara, tendulkar's match winning ability was and is still a debatable topic.. We still have a debate when we meet and discuss. Seems like never ending debate.

If it was a day of Indian cricket match (be it ODI or Test), the discussion was leading to postmortem of the match. This was top on the agenda. If it was a day of india on the loosing side, one could see all dissappointed faces in the round table dinner, but could see the hope in each face that India will do well in next macth. .. tendulkar will score.. so on..

People used to be soo involved in the discussion that only after 1 hour people were comming back to reality and some dialogues like tomorrow i have internals, i have to submit the drawing tomorrow..

Imagine the serious faces after 1 hour, getting up from the dinning room and proceeding towards the wash area..
